Why did you create a non-profit organization dedicated to yacht refit?
Pôle Refit La Rochelle stands at the heart of the highest concentration of nautical businesses of the country. A long-term commitment for the city of La Rochelle, with a key ambition: to become an international leader in refit operations. La Rochelle is definitely a credible option compared to shipyards from the French Riviera, from the Nordic Countries, and more generally to European yards. Thus, our missions are to develop the image of our city as the benchmark port of call on the French Atlantic Coast and to unite the domestic marine industry on the refit market.
What sizes of boat can be refitted?
Refit work gives any boat a new lease on life. Accordingly, we can talk about refits regardless of the boat size. On the other hand, it is obvious that both facilities and skills are very different between a pleasure boat refit and a superyacht of several dozens of metres. This is exactly why we developed two offers: “Refit Plaisance”, for pleasure boating and “Refit Superyacht”, for super- and megayachts. We are thus able to meet the requirements of two specific types of customers. To do so, we rely on innovative, performing facilities, which are above all adapted to fulfil the most demanding requirements.
What is the main strength of La Rochelle for achieving refit projects?
To begin with, we are the only deep sea port of the Atlantic Coast and have one of the leading marinas in Europe. We own highly performing facilities able to welcome boats up to 100 metres – all in the heart of our city classified as a historic heritage site! Second of all, I assume that our main strength is both the diversity and the complementarity of the trades and crafts available. Our history of more than a century in the marine industry has led us to build a real expertise, specifically in terms of skills and know-how. Coming to La Rochelle ensures our clients custom-made projects managed by passionate and experienced people, at affordable prices and within the time-limit set.
